English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL)
There are 6 levels of classes, from students who have limited English skills to classes for those preparing for post-secondary education and careers. Content includes speaking, listening, reading and writing with a focus on improving communication in daily life and at work.
Adult Basic Education (ABE)
Classes teach reading, writing and workplace skills to adults who are assessed at the beginning through intermediate levels in reading. Students may be native or non-native speakers of English.
Writing Workshop
Students practice filling out job applications, writing resumes, taking phone messages as well as composing personal narratives and essays. The workshop prepares them to transition to job-training and post-secondary education programs.
Computer Instruction
Technology is integrated into instruction so students can acquire the computer skills needed for success in the workplace and at home.
Work Place Instruction
Workplace literacy supports employees at their job sites who need assistance with reading, writing and speaking English.
ESOL for Seniors
In partnership with the Greenwich Senior Center, Pilgrim Towers and Harbor Site seniors participate in English classes tailored to their special needs and help reduce the isolation often experienced by Senior Citizens.
BABY Basics
The program is conducted in collaboration with The What to Expect Foundation and teaches literacy skills to expectant, low-income women within the context of pre-natal health care.
